Berlin relies on GeoFly data

Stephan Machulik, State Secretary for Housing and Tenant Protection of the Berlin Senate, visited GeoFly – in the context of our LiDAR laser scanning flight for Berlin. The data will be incorporated into the official geodata database and demonstrate how precise sensor technology and a streamlined process chain can provide a basis for decision-making regarding urban development, existing buildings, and housing.

Berlin relies on reliable geodata – and is looking behind the scenes to achieve this

Geodata is the foundation for administration, planning, and urban development. For decisions to be sound, data must be precise, traceable, and reliable – from acquisition to quality assurance. This was precisely the focus of Stephan Machulik's visit to GeoFly, State Secretary for Housing and Tenant Protection of the State of Berlin. The occasion was a LiDAR/laser scanning flight that we conducted for the Berlin Senate. The results are being incorporated into the official geodata repository of the City of Berlin – thus becoming part of a database upon which long-term projects can be built.

From the flight to a decision-ready dataset

: On-site, we provided insights into the entire process chain: aircraft, sensors, and workflows – and above all, what happens between measurement and usable dataset. Because what matters is not just what can be captured, but how reliable data is generated from it – today and tomorrow.

Among other topics, the following were discussed:
Digital twins as a strategic tool for planning, simulation, and communication.
Thermographic aerial surveys provide a data basis for urban climate analyses and energy-related issues.
Geodata analyses for planning, existing buildings, infrastructure, and housing – as a foundation for transparent, data-driven decisions.

Thank you for your trust and the open professional dialogue. Reliable geodata is created where responsibility, technology, and operational implementation work seamlessly together – that's precisely what GeoFly stands for.
