Oblique aerial photographs/oblique images in detail

During our oblique aerial surveys, photogrammetric camera systems capture 5 synchronous images in nadir and oblique planes per event.

The flight plans are designed so that the oblique images are aligned with the four cardinal directions. If you don't have suitable software for viewing oblique images, we would be happy to provide you with a quote for our in-house oblique image viewer ObViewSly. Oblique data for several reference cities is available here. For example, take a look at Stuttgart in oblique mode.

Oblique images are a welcome addition to many projects, as they provide even non-experts with a familiar view of the environment, thus offering better orientation. Furthermore, they can reveal additional information not visible in orthophotos, such as building facades, side views of bridges, or passageways.

The camera technology we use is an UltraCam Osprey 4.1.

Selected examples of our work

Denmark

In both 2023 and 2025, as part of a framework agreement with the Agency for Climate Data Denmark, we surveyed 8,711 km² of Denmark's territory using oblique aerial photography. Aerotriangulation was then performed, and the resulting georeferenced image data was delivered.

Free Hanseatic City of Bremen

In 2025, we surveyed 480 km² for the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and created true orthophotos, DSM, oblique images and a 3D mesh.

Steinfurt district

From June to August 2022, we surveyed 1,810 km² in the Steinfurt district and created true orthophotos, oblique images and a surface model.

State capital Magdeburg

The aerial photographs serve the city of Magdeburg as a basis for fulfilling various tasks in the areas of administration and planning.

City of Stuttgart

In the spring of 2025, 910 km² of the city of Stuttgart were surveyed and a surface model, true orthophoto and 3D mesh were created based on 15,556 images.

City of Trier

In the spring of 2025, we surveyed 104 km² of the city of Trier and created true orthophotos, oblique images, DSM and a 3D mesh.
